 "A very disappointing tiller!" 2009-09-22
By D. Swetland (Northeast Ohio)
I have owned this product for four years. I have used this product four times! And that was in the first two years! And that included a major overhaul which was under warrenty but took almost two months to get parts! The third year I left it in storage...didn't need the hassle. Used a black and decker battery powered unit. Worked (and works) great! Last week I took the Ryobi to a certified shop for an estimate on getting the thing started. A bad carburator and pinched cable repair would have been close to two hundred dollars. Well, the shop gets to keep the Ryobi, I get to pay for a work estimate but no work. And my Black and Decker battery powered unit will suffice for now. Your luck with the Ryobi may be better than mine. But many, MANY folks can tell the same story as me and I would advise against its purchase.

When I first bought this cultivator it was hard to start, but once started it worked like crazy. I was cultivating the garden one day and it was doing well and then progressively began slowing down and finally froze up. COuldn't pull the starter cord. Took it back to home depot (guaranteed for 3 years), and they sent it off - it came back repaired, and started right up (better than ever). Haven't used it long enough to see if it is going to freeze up again. Other than that, I broke two tines and have not yet been able to find a source of replacements.

 "Junk or Not ??" 2009-08-01
By garden junkie (Atoka, OK)
I bought a refurbished Ryobi Cultivator in February 2009. I couldn't get it to stay started. I took it to an authorized Ryobi Service Center the next day. FIVE MONTHS have passed and it is still at the shop...Will never buy another Ryobi product.

I' very happy with my transaction. The machine is awesome, is easy to handle and I wasn't have any trouble to start the engine, I did it on my third pull. I just have a couple of missing parts but I've made contact with the seller having an immediate answer, Actually I was surprise 'cause he send me the missing parts so fast. I am very satisfied to been treat in such kind and professional way.

Thank's again Jon Damlow.

"great product for the price" 2009-03-25

This is a great little tiller. I bought mine about a month ago and have used it almost evry other day. It will break up even the toughest of soils, especially after adding sand in the weight container.

I read where some people are having trouble getting it started. If you follow the instructions for starting and it still doesnt start, unchoke the carb and apply the tiniest of pressure on the throttle.Just apply the pressure while pulling the starter. It will start evry time 2 pulls.

When I first got mine it started the first time by the instructions. The second time I tried to start it I almost pulled my guts out. After catching my breath I went back through the start up instructions and after the choke reset itself I just touched the throttle while pulling the starter and it started. After having to start it this way about three times, it now starts as the instructions say it will.Anyone having trouble should just give it a little gas, wont hurt a thing.
